Vallø

In the autumn of 1875 the glass production began at Vallø Glassworks (Valløy i Tønsberg, Norway). The glassworks belonged to a Norwegian businessman Ernest Christopher Frølich. Mostly glass bottles were manufactured at Vallø. In 1878 the company won  medals of silver and bronze medals at the Third Paris World's Fair.

In September 1879 the Vallø Glassworks faced bakruptcy and was sold to Christiansen & Co in 1882. Christiansen & Co owned the Laurvig Glassworks as well. Later on Vallø had several owners. In 1892 it was sold to Christiania Glasmagasin, which closed down its business at Vallø in 1896.

Glass fishing floats produced at Vallø are extremely hard to find. The embossed marking 'Vallø' is located on the sealing button.
