Clover
Clover is a trademark of the glass companies in Germany that belonged to Casper Hermann Heye. He took over a glass company in Obernkirchen in 1823. Later Heye aquired the Glasfabrik Wendthöhe, that manufactured packaging glass until 1932. Then he bought the Glasfabrik Steinkrug near Hannover, Germany which produced bottles and balloons until 1932. In 1871 Hermann Heye founded a new glassworks in Nienburg, that made container glass until 1931 (information from 'Kaiserliches Patentamt und Reichspatentamt Warenzeichenblätter'). There are several types of embossed clover markings and all of them are located on the floats' seal buttons: bigger clover, smaller clover and the marking that actually says 'Made in Germany' around its clover marking. We have seen clover marked floats in the 3,5" to 8" sizes in diameter and of different glass colors. The most common are the different shades of green. The more rare are the teal, brown and amber glass colors.
