Oscar Dahl & Co
Oscar Dahl was born and raised in Norway, in a small town near Oslo. In
about 1880 he and his brother Harald left the country for Paris, France
looking for opportunities. In France Harald Dahl established a business
relationship with a Norwegian shipbroker called Ludvig Aadnesen. Some
time after they set off to Cardiff, Wales on business. Harald Dahl is
the father of the famous British novelist, short story writer and
screenwriter Roald Dahl.Harald's younger brother Oscar went to La Rochelle, a French seaport. In 1912 Oscar Dahl and mr. Garrigues own a fishery called 'The fisheries of the Atlantic Oscar Dahl & Co' (Pêcheries de l'Atlantique Oscar Dahl). A fleet of 14 high sea fishing boats, a fuel factory, an ice factory and workshops belonged to the company. In 1930-s an amount of 50-100 employees worked for Oscar Dahl & Co. The company's trademark is a shamrock.
In 1933 Oscar Dahl patented his invention - a fishing trawl net.
The end of the business came in the year 1958.
